Travel from Don Mueang Airport

Don Mueang Airport is located to the north of central Bangkok, 24 km from Siam Square the central shopping area of Bangkok and 14 km from Mo Chit BTS and Chatuchak MRT stations, the closest rpaid public transport station to Don Mueang Airport. Don Mueang Airport has a train station with services to Bang Sue and Hua Lamphong train stations which are connected to Bangkok’s metro system (the MRT) however, few people choose to use the overland train to travel from Don Mueang Airport to central Bangkok because services are infrequent and tend to travel very slowly through the outer suburbs of Bangkok.

For travel from Don Mueang Airport to central there are two options: taxi and bus. If you take a meter taxi from Don Mueang Airport’s official taxi rank then prices are relative cheap, although more expensive than journeys by meter taxi elsewhere in central Bangkok because of an airport surcharge and toll road fees added on top of the fare on the meter. A trip by meter taxi from Don Mueang Airport to the lower Sukhumvit Road will cost a total of around 280 THB. A cheaper option, particularly if you are travelling alone, is to take the A1 route shuttle bus service which terminates at the Northern Bus Terminal. There are frequent departures from in front of the airport terminal and the fare is a flat rate of 30 THB per person. The A1 bus stops on route at Mo Chit BTS and Chatuchak MRT stations, from where you can travel onto most part of the city for a fare of 20 to 40 THB person depending on your destination.
