The main form of public transport in Koh Samui is the songthaew, which is shared taxi with two benches in the back of pick-up trick with a metal cover over the top. Shared taxis ply the ring road which runs around the entire coast of Koh Samui. Shared taxi services are cheap and charge fixed prices, although this is not always the case for foreign visitors who are often over charged. Before you get into a shared taxi check both that the taxi is going to your required destination and also the amount the driver will charge you.
