Wat Pratu Pong in Lampang
Wat Pratu Pong is a Lanna style temple in the Northern Thai City of Lampang. Wat Pratu Pong is a small and lesser visited temple which, nonetheless, has some great architecture. In particular the decorative wooden carvings on the front of the prayer hall are particularly good. The other buildings in the temple, whilst not spectacular, are beautiful and interesting. The ordination hall is ornately decorated in white stucco with black doors with very well executed gold stencil work. The Sri Lankan style chedi is black with a tiled spire. The scripture library is an updated version of a traditional Lanna style ho trai and the drum tower is also a more modern re-working a traditional Thai temple drum tower. As a whole, Wat Pratu Pong is a very attractive temple.

Wat Pratu Pong is believed to have been established in the late 16th Century, however, the date of the construction of the building that are there now are not known for certain but likely to be from the 19th and 20th Centuries. The temple is open every day during daylight hours and admission is free. Access to the ordination hall, however, is only granted on Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 to 15:00.
