Transport from Phuket Town

Phuket Town has an interesting old quarter, notable for its early 20th Century Sino-Portuguese architecture, which has developed into a significant tourist attraction over the last decade. Most visitors to Phuket, however, want to stay somewhere on the coast.

Phuket Town does not have a beach but it does have lots of good local transport links. Phuket Bus Terminal 1, which is the old bus terminal in the town centre, is now the main terminus for local bus and minivan services to destinations across Phuket, including an inexpensive service to Phuket Airport, minivan services to Patong, and bus services to destinations slightly further away such as Khao Lak.

A wide variety of shared taxi and minivan services to destinations across Phuket also depart from roadside near Phuket Town Central Market on the Ranong Road.

For longer distance road journeys passengers need to travel to Phuket Bus Terminal 2, which is located 5 km to the north of Phuket Town. The least expensive way to travel to Phuket Bus Terminal 2 is to take the government run shared taxi service which departs frequently from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 and takes around 15 minutes to reach Phuket Bus Terminal 2.
