Beaches in Koh Lanta
The Western coastline of Koh Lanta Yai, the largest of the islands which form Koh Lanta, has a long line of beaches separated by small headlands. There are lots of beaches to choose from and each has its own individual character. The beaches tend to get less busy and less developed as you head south from the main town Saladan in the north of the island. The busiest beach on Koh Lanta, and the one with the most hotels, bars and restaurants is Klong Dao Beach, which is 2 km stretch of white sand beach within walking distance of Saladan town. By way of contrast, Ao Nui Beach, 21.6 km to the south of Saladan town is much less developed with only a single beach bar, no resorts, and its much smaller, only 260 metres long.

Arguably the most beautiful beach in Koh Lanta is Bamboo Beach, also known as Ao Mae Phai, which is most southerly beach on Koh Lanta Yai. Bamboo Beach is 800 metres long with steep headlands at either end of the beach. There are two resorts on Bamboo Beach, both with restaurants, and not much else. Because Bamboo Beach is 24.1 km from Saladan town it tends to be one of the quieter beaches on the island.
