About travel to Donsak
Donsak is a coastal district in Surat Thani Province. Donsak is not a tourist destination in its own right, although the neighbouring districts of Khanom and Sichon have beaches which are popular with Thai tourists and to a lesser extent foreign visitors. The main reason most foreign visitors come to Donsak is because the district hosts several large passenger ports with services to and from the three main islands in Surat Province: Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Songserm services from Koh Tao arrive into Laem Thuat Pier, which is 66.1 km to the west of Surat Thani City. The southern city of Nakhon Si Thammarat, where you can board bus, train and minivan services to Hat Yai and onto the border with Malaysia, is 119 km to the south of Leam Thuat Pier. There is, however, little in the way of public transport available at Laem Thuat Pier so you need to book a connecting bus service or a taxi in advance, or risk getting stick at the ferry port.
