About Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is one of the best holiday islands in Thailand for visitors looking for somewhere less crowded with great beaches, a relaxed atmosphere and good value for money. Koh Lanta is not as developed as Phuket or Koh Phi Phi and it doesn’t have as many facilities or a particularly lively nightlife. What Koh Lanta does have, however, is nearly 30 km of beaches on it west side and some interesting places to visit on the east coast and in the centre of the main island, Koh Lanta Yai.

There are lots of great places you can choose to stay in Koh Lanta, although because it’s a relatively small island with a good road network it is actually not that important which location you choose to book a hotel. The busiest part of Koh Lanta is it’s main town of Baan Saladan on the north of Koh Lanta Yai.
Baan Saladan is where the long distance ferries arrive into. The town itself is basically two mains streets with plenty of bars and restaurants and a small night market with food stalls. There are are also beaches within walking distance of Baan Saladan. As you travel south along the west coast from Baan Saladan the beaches tend to be become progressively less developed with some beaches having no resorts or hotels at all, such as the tiny but very beautiful Ao Nui Beach.
