Travel in Phuket
Phuket has excellent transport links with a major international airport, as well as several bus stations and ferry piers. The island’s long distance bus station is Phuket Bus Terminal 2, where you can take direct bus services to a range of destinations across Thailand including Bangkok, Pattaya, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Chiang Mai.
For local travel from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 the cheapest option is to the 15 THB shared taxi to Phuket Bus Terminal 1, from where inexpensive minivan and shared taxi services frequently depart to popular beach towns in Phuket such as Patong. From Phuket Bus Terminal 1 it’s a short distance to Rassada pier from where there are regular ferry services to popular islands such as Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta.

Phuket has a major international airport which you reach very cheaply from Phuket Bus Terminal 1 on the Phuket Airport Bus. The range of destinations you can travel to direct from Phuket International Airport is second only to the major airports in Bangkok. There are direct domestic flights to most major airports in Thailand including Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Chiang International Airport, Koh Samui and U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport.
