About Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta, off the west coast of Thailand, is massively underrated as holiday destination which is often overlooked in favour of more famous islands nearby such as Koh Phi Phi, Phuket and Koh Lipe. In contrast with the better known islands in the Andaman Sea, Koh Lanta is less crowded, better value for money and it has more points of interest to visit than other more popular island destinations. It’s a mystery why more people don’t choose Koh Lanta as a place to go on holiday.

Koh Lanta is relatively easy to reach because the north island is very close to the mainland of Thailand and connected to the south island by a bridge. Unlike Koh Phi Phi or Koh Lipe, it’s not necessary to take a long and expensive ferry or speedboat journey to get to Koh Lanta which also means things in shops and prices in restaurants are more reasonable than they are on remoter islands where transportation costs are much higher. Koh Lanta is large as well, with lots of beaches, and this means that hotels are cheaper as space is not at such a premium, and it easier to find a place to stay without the large crowds such as those on Koh Phi Phi or in Ao Nang on the mainland.
