About Hunan Province
The three major tourist attractions in Hunan Province are Changsha City, Wulingyuan Scenic Area and Fenghuang Old Town. Changsha City is the largest city in Hunan Province which has existed for over 1,000 years. Changsha city has a museum, lots of temples, memorial parks to the founders of the Communist state in China and and a nearby mountain which you can ascend in a cable car. The real pleasure though in visiting Changsha is wandering around some of the older streets, such as Taiping Street, eating local food and enjoying the youthful nightlife of the city.

In complete contrast to Changsa City, the Wulingyuan Scenic Area is comprised of a number of national parks, the most famous of which is the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park also known as Avatar Mountains because of the very tall pillars of rock which have some resemblance to scenes from the film Avatar. Fenghuang Old Town is a well preserved ancient city. Highlights of Fenghuang Old Town include the East Gate Tower, Hong Bridge, Wanshou Temple, Gucheng Museum, Chongde Hall and the traditional houses on stilts overhanging the river. In order to see all the sites in Fenghuang Old Town you would need to buy three separate entry tickets, with each ticket covering a different group of attractions.
