About Travel to Trang
Trang is a small city with around 60,000 permanent residents which is the administrative centre for the Province of Trang. Trang is laid back town with a small, but steady, stream of tourists passing through. The centre of the city has lots of old fashioned buildings, and is well known amongst Thai tourists for its Chinese and Malaysian food. There aren’t really any major tourist attractions in Trang itself. The best known attractions in the area are Le Khao Kob Cave (30 km away), Ton Te Waterfall (49 km away) and Thung Khai Botanical Garden (11 km) away.

The main reason foreign tourists travel to Trang is because it’s the closest major town to the boat piers for several popular islands including Koh Ngai, Koh Muk, Koh Kradan and Koh Libong. These are lesser visited islands, which are largely undeveloped and slightly more difficult to get to than other more popular islands such as Koh Samui and Phuket. Joint minivan and boat services to the islands depart from the main bus terminal as well as from the railway station.
If you need to stay overnight in Trang we recommend staying at a hotel near Trang Railway Station. This is the liveliest part of the city and the place where most foreign visitors tend to stay so the local hotels and restaurants have developed services for foreign visitors that you won’t find elsewhere in Trang.
