About Ferry Services to Koh Tao
There are two different ferry services you can take from Chumphon Province to Koh Tao.
Lomprayah High Speed Ferry
This is the fastest service to Koh Tao. From the ferry pier it takes 1 hour 45 minutes to travel to Koh Tao. The Lomrayah company has a fleet of high speed catamaran ferries which function in the same way as a speedboat. They have enclosed cabins and outdoor seating areas. The only downside of this service as that it’s a bumpy ride in bad weather.
The Lomprayah Ferry is the fastest service from Chumphon to Koh TaoNight Boat
This service departs at 21:00 and takes 8 hours to reach Koh Tao. The Night Boat is a converted fishing boat which has mattresses in the floor inside which are allocated to passengers rather than seats. We don’t recommend this service for people travelling with small children. The Night Boat works best for younger backpackers arriving late into Chumphon who want to save money on staying in a hotel before travelling the next day.
