Reasons to travel to Phichit
Pichit is the provincial capital of the province of Phichit which is in the lower part of Thailand’s Northern Region on the route between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Phichit is a medium sized town which is closely associated with the story of Chalawan, the crocodile king who was defeated by a local resident rescuing the daughter of a wealthy local man. Pichit also has a thousand history as an important part of the same kingdom as Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.

The main attractions in Phichit are the freshwater lake of Bueng Si Fai and the temple of Wat Tha Luang. The lake is popular place for boat trips to see the attractive and colourful floating water lilies which cover large parts of the lake. The lake also has an aquarium and a pond with some crocodiles. Wat Tha Luang temple is important to Thai Buddhists because of the bronze statue of Buddha sitting in a diamond lotus position.
