About Travel to Chumphon
There are several different ferry companies operating on the Koh Samui to Chumphon route. The fastest and most professionally managed of these is the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Company which travels from Koh Samui to a ferry pier to the south of Chumphon town by high speed catamaran, and there from there passengers are taken onward to Chumphon town and Chumphon Airport by the company’s own fleet of luxury buses and minivans. The slowest and most uncomfortable option, and also the cheapest, is to take the night boat. The night boat arrives at a ferry pier on the river not far from Chumphon town early in the morning, making it a popular option for people planning to travel overland the next day to destinations such as Ranong which are not on the railway network.

Chumphon town itself is not a popular tourist destination in its own right. If you end up spending the night in Chumphon we recommend visiting the Krumluang Chumphon Road in the evening. This street, which leads to the railway station, has many food stalls which serve very cheap and very authentic Southern Thai style food. There is also a good hotel to stay on the Krumluang Chumphon Road which is cheap and caters well to foreign visitors, the Euro Boutique Hotel.
