About Nakhon Si Thammarat

There two major tourist attractions in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The most famous of these is Wat Phra Mahathat Woromaha Vihan, which is the most important Buddhist temple in Southern Thailand. Wat Phra Mahathat Woromaha Vihan has a Buddha tooth relic and lots and lots of chedi: one large chedi surrounded by 173 smaller chedi.

Lots of Thai, Laos, Cambodia and Sri Lanka Buddhists come on pilgrimages to Wat Phra Mahathat Woromaha Vihan which is considered one of the most holy sites in Theravāda Buddhism which is followed in many parts of South East Asia and in Sri Lanka.
