About Travel to Koh Phi Phi
To travel from Koh Phangan to Koh Phi Phi you need to take two ferry journeys, one from Koh Phangan to mainland Thailand and then another from the mainland to Koh Phi Phi, with a journey by road in between from the east cost to the west coast of Thailand. You can do this journey independently in 5 separate stages, but it’s a lot a quicker and easier to book a joint service which takes passengers direct from Koh Phangan to Koh Phi.
The reason travelling independently is a lot slower and more complicated is that you need to make your own way from the ferry pier in Surat Thani to the bus station after you arrive on the mainland from Koh Phangan, and then travel from the bus station in Krabi to one of the ferry piers to take you to Koh Phi Phi. If you travel with one of the joint service providers there will be a bus waiting for you as you get off the ferry from Koh Phangan which will take you to the ferry pier on the west coast of Thailand to take another ferry to Koh Phi Phi.
There are several companies which operate direct joint services from Koh Phangan to Koh Phi Phi the best of which is the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry company which uses a high speed catamaran ferry to transport passengers on the long sea crossing from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani and then a good quality bus to take passengers across Thailand to the west coast ferry pier for the final stage of the journey by sea to Koh Phi Phi.
