Loh Dalum Beach in Koh Phi Phi
Loh Dalum Beach, located near Tonsai Pier in the island’s main town, is the most popular beach in Koh Phi Phi. Loh Dalum Beach is a 1.1 km long narrow white sand beach. The bay in which the beach is located is spectacular. The downsides of Loh Dalum are that it is very busy and the entire length of the beach has a continuous line has shops, restaurants, resorts and bars. If any beach in Thailand can be described as ‘overdeveloped’ then it’s Loh Dalum Beach.
Loh Dalum Beach is not somewhere you would want to go for a relaxing holiday on a tropical beach. It is though a lively place in a very busy town. There are lots of places to eat and drink on the beach front both in the day time and through to very late at night. It’s a party zone and the mostly younger visitors who go to stay in Tonsai Village on Koh Phi Phi want to be in a party zone to enjoy themselves with other similarly minded people. If you are after a quieter beach near Tonsai Pier then consider taking the short boat trip, or long walk, to the much quieter Long Beach which is part of Tonsai Bay but separated from Tonsai Pier by rocky headlands which are difficult to walk over.
