About Koh Phayam
Koh Phayam is a small island, approximately 8 km long by 5 km at its widest point, and no roads suitable for driving cars although you can get around on motorbike. Koh Phayam has two major beaches: Ao Khao Kwai on the north east of the island making it the nearest of the two major beaches to the ferry pier; and Ao Yai on the south east part of the island and the best place on the island to surf. Koh Phayam has electricity and internet but not much else in the way of modern facilities. The island is getting busier and is perhaps on the verge of mass development, but for the moment its more like how islands such as Koh Phangan were back in the middle of the 1990s. The main things to do on the island are swimming, surfing, diving, snorkelling and relaxing. The nightlife gets as lively as the group of people in a bar want to make it.

In terms of accommodation there was a time when Koh Phayam only had basic cheap beach huts. The huts are still there, although a bit more expensive now, but there are now also larger more luxurious resorts such as the Heaven Beach Eco Resort and the excellent The Blue Sky Resort which feature amenities such as air-conditioning and swimming pools.
