Krabi Town is the only tourist town in Krabi which doesn’t have a beach. What Krabi Town does have though is a very picturesque riverside park, several great markets and plenty of good bars and restaurants. From Krabi Town it’s also only a short way to Wat Tham Suea, which is the Tiger Cave Temple famous for its hilltop shrine and cave shrines.
Located 17 km by road from Krabi Town, Ao Nang is the most popular destination in mainland Krabi. The town is located behind a 1.4 km long swimming beach, and features a very wide of restaurants and bars specifically catering to foreign visitors. Ao Nang is very tourist oriented and caters well to families. The hotels range in price and quality considerably.
Railay is a peninsula immediately to the east of Ao Nang Beach which you can’t reach by road because of the hilly landscape. Boats to Railay depart from Ao Nang Beach as well as several other piers in the area.
Railay has four beaches, each with a small town or village behind. The most popular of these four beaches is Railway West Beach.
Koh Phi Phi
From Krabi it’s a 1 hour journey by speedboat or a 2 hour journey by ferry to Koh Phi Phi. Both ferry and speedboats from Krabi to Koh Phi Phi arrive on the island at Tonsai Pier.
