About Sunrise Beach
Sunrise Beach is a 1.2 km stretch of perfect white sand on the east coast of Koh Lipe. Sunrise Beach, and in particular the quality of the water at Sunrise Beach, is the reason why Koh Lipe is often referred to as the ‘Maldives of Thailand’. The southern end of the beach is very narrow with the beach widening out considerably as you go north. The entire length of the beach has bars, restaurants and bungalow resort at the edge of the sand. These establishments vary a lot in price and quality which puts Sunrise Beach within a lot of different price brackets. This said, Koh Lipe is such a small island that you can easily stay somewhere else and walk to the beach every day without much effort.

One of the major activities on Koh Lipe is taking boat trips to the neighbouring islands, which are uninhabited. Taxi boats depart from Koh Sunrise Beach and can be hired directly from the beach. From Sunrise Beach you can see the largest of these islands, Koh Adang.
There are also two smaller island closer to the beach, Koh Kra and Koh Unsen. If you are a good swimmer Koh Kra and Koh Unsen are excellent places to swim out to for snorkelling. Alternatively, kayaks are available for hire on the beach front. In high season from November to April the sea is very clam at Sunrise Beach and it is an excellent for swimming and other water sports.
