About Rang Hill in Phuket
Rang Hill, also known as Khao Rang, is located 3.3 km walking distance to the north of Phuket Town’s local bus terminal, Phuket Bus Terminal 1. If you are coming to Phuket Town for a day or two then a walk up Rang Hill is one of the ‘must do’ activities, along with a walk through Phuket Old Town. Rang Hill has an elevation of approximately 250 metres above the rest of Phuket Town and it’s a leisurely 45 minutes stroll to the top along wide pavements most of the way if you approach the hill from the south via the Khaw Sim Bee Road and then the Wachira Road.

On the way up, or down, Rang Hill take a few minutes to look around Khao Rang Temple which you pass on the way. Khao Rang Temple has Phuket’s original Big Buddha statue and a small but ornate shrine hall. When you reach the top of Rang Hill there is a great view which you can enjoy safely from the observation point which has a metal guard rail to stop people falling over the edge whilst concentrating on their phones and cameras. There are also some good restaurants and snack shops at the top of the hill where you can enjoy the views whilst eating some Thai food and enjoying a well earned drink after all that healthy walking.
