Wat Pha Sorn Kaew

However, a lot of visitors transit through Phetchabun to visit the nearby national parks and the spectacular Wat Pha Sorn Kaew, which features a statue with 5 images of the Lord Buddha each smaller than the one before. Wat Pha Sorn Kaew also features a 7 tiered stupa decorated with colourful mosaics of porcelain and gemstones.

Si Thep Historical Park

Also worth visiting is the Si Thep Historical Park which features more than 70 ancient structures spread over an large area. Some of the ruins are over 1,000 years old.

Phu Thap Boek

By far the most popular attractions in Phetchabun Province, however, are it a hill top viewpoints. The most famous of these is Phu Thap Boek which rises 1,768 metres above sea level. Camping on the hill top is a popular activity due to the cooler climate and the mist which covers the valley below in the mornings.

Khao Kho National Park

Another popular place to visit viewpoints is the Khao Kho National Park, which rises to an altitude of 1,174 metres above sea level. Because of the Rattanai Reservoir at the bottom of the valley the area below the peaks fill with mist almost every day of the year and this phenomenon attracts lots of visitors.

Thung Salaeng Luang National Park

For trekking and mountain biking try the Thung Salaeng Luang National Park which features trails through forests full of birds, animals and lots of different species of plants and trees.
