Kuala Lumpur City Centre
There is lots to see and do in Kuala Lumpur other than going shopping in Bukit Bintang or at one of the massive malls near the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. We suggest that you start by visiting Merdeka Square, which has lots of interesting buildings dating back to the period when the Malay Peninsula was part of the British Empire including the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the Jamek Mosque, which is located just off Merdeka Square.

After Merdeka Square head towards to Kuala Lumpur’s China Town area via Pasar Seni Station. There is lots to do in this area. KL Central Market and the nearby Petaling Street Market are great places both to eat and to find interesting souvenirs that you won’t find in the big shopping malls. China Town also has a number of interesting temples, the best two of which are the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, a Hindu temple with a impressive gopura entrance tower, and the nearby Guan Di Temple, which is an atmosphere Chinese Taoist temple. If you still have the time and energy then take a short train journey from KL Sentral Station northwards to the Batu Caves, which is a fantastic Hindu Temple dedicated to the God Murugan featuring shrines inside two large caves.
