Hua Hin Railway Station
Hua Hin has probably the prettiest railway station in Thailand. The station was originally built in 1910 and then rebuilt again in 1925 and has been preserved in that form ever since. The main station building is largely built of wood in a Victorian style giving the appearance of a 19th Century railway station in a small town or village in England. The station has a striking colour scheme of beige and red that is instantly recognisable when copied for use in marketing in shops and restaurants elsewhere in Thailand. The station building itself is complimented by well maintained gardens and a antique train carriage parked on the other side of the road in front of the entrance to the station.

The most famous feature of Hua Hin Railway Station is the ornate Thai style building on Platform 1, which is called the Sanam Chandra Palace Railway Pavilion. This wooden structure was transported from the Sanam Chandra Palace in Nakhon Pathom to Hua Hin Railway Station in 1967 for use as a waiting room for members of the Royal Family. Thailand’s Royal Family has had a long association with Hua Hin which has been used as a royal holiday retreat since the 1920s.
