About Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is a cluster of islands, two of which are large and the rest are small and uninhabited. The majority of the accommodation, bars and restaurants are located on the largest of these islands, Koh Lanta Yai. The west coast of Koh Lanta Yai is blessed with a large number of beaches which run for the nearly the entire length of the west coast, broken up by rocky headlands. The busier beaches are to the northern end of the west coast of Koh Lanta and they get gradually less developed as you travel further south away from Ban Saladan, which is the town where the main ferry pier is located. At the southern end of the west coast the scenery becomes more hilly with high sea cliffs and a protected area at the southern tip of the island which you must pay to visit.

The east coast of Koh Lanta has no significant beaches, but it does have the charming Old Town of Koh Lanta with it famous wooden houses, some of which overhang the sea on wooden posts. Many of these wooden houses have been transformed into restaurants where you eat whilst enjoying the eastward views of many of the smaller islands off the coast of Koh Lanta Yai.
