For those palnning to stay overnight, or perhaps a little longer, Mukdahan has a fairly good range of hotels and restaurants. The city also has lots of markets and shopping centres. Lots of the shoppers are people from Laos. In terms of tourist attractions the top three are:

  • Phu Pha Thoep National Park, notable for its strange rock formations and viewpoint,
  • Ho Kaeo Mukdahan, which is a observation tower and local hisotry museum combined into one,
  • Wat Phra Si Maha Pho, which is a 100 year old temple combining Thai, Laos and Vietnamese architectural features.
