Beijing Capital International Airport is located 32 km to the north east of Beijing City Centre. Most travellers use taxi cabs to travel from the Airport to the city centre. The fare is likely to be between 70 and 120 Chinese Yuan. The first problem most non-Chinese speaking visitors to Beijing encounter is the almost complete lack of spoken or written English, French, German, Thai or any other language other than Chinese on the part of Beijing taxi drivers. What you need to do is to print out the name of your hotel or other destination in Chinese characters to show to the driver, or get someone at the airport information desk to write it down for you or otherwise (unless you organise your own transfer in advance) you have little chance of successfully communicating to a taxi driver where it is you actually want to travel to. There is also an airport shuttle bus which departs every 10 to 30 minutes and costs 24 Chinese Yuan per person one-way to the city centre. There are 6 different shuttle bus routes so some research is required before you depart or make an enquiry at the airport information desk to find out which shuttle bus route runs closest to where you want to go.
