Thai AirAsia and Nok Air operate daily flights from Bangkok to Ranong. The alternative to flying from Bangkok to Ranong is to take a bus. The journey by bus from Bangkok to Ranong takes slightly over 13 hours, compared to a flight time of just over an hour. The advantage of travelling by bus is that it is cheaper and the bus station is also much closer than airport to the ferry pier for travel to Koh Phayam and the pier for longtail boat services to Myanmar.

About travel to Koh Phayam
Ferry services to Koh Phayam depart from Ranong Pier which is located off the Chaloem Phrakiat Road, 26.2 km to the north of Ranong Airport. There are no public bus services operating out of Ranong Airport so the only way to travel from Ranong Airport to Ranong Pier is to take a taxi. Agree a price in advance as these taxis don’t travel on a meter.
There are two type of boat service from Ranong Pier to Koh Phayam: the slow ferry and speedboat services. The slow ferry is the cheapest option. It departs at 08:45 and 14:00, and takes 2 hours to reach Koh Phayam. The ticket price on the slow ferry is 200 THB per person. There are several speedboat operators plying this route. By speedboat the journey takes 45 minutes. If you buy your ticket for the speedboat direct from the operators it will cost you 350 THB to 450 THB, if you buy your ticket from one of the agencies near the ferry pier you will pay considerably more.
