About Vang Vieng
Vang Vieng is a small town on the road between Vientiane and Luang Prabang which attracts a lot of tourists. The main attractions of Vang Vieng are floating in a rubber tube on the Nam Song River and the night life in the town. Vang Vieng used to be a largely unregulated location where all day and all night drinking and use of drugs was common place. This is less so now although it still goes on and this is why the majority of tourists, largely aged between 18 and 30, come to Vang Vieng.

There are other underrated and under used attractions in and around Vang Vieng which are now just beginning to attract a different type of visitors in more significant numbers. Vang Vieng, like much of Laos, has a very beautiful landscape which you can explore by walking, bicycle or boat. Amongst the things to see and do near Vang Vieng are visiting its numerous river caves located near the town and hiking to the top of Phangern Mountain.
