Taxis in Phuket are notoriously expensive. Rather than use a meter, taxis operating out of Phuket International Airport charge high fixed fares. Rather than take a taxi from Phuket International Airport, you also have the option of taking the Airport Bus which picks up passengers from in front of the first floor of the Arrival Hall. The final stop for the Airport Bus is Phuket Bus Terminal 1, which is located in the centre of Phuket Town.

The journey by public bus from Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town takes 1 hour 25 minutes and tickets (which you buy on the bus) cost 100 THB person to get all the way from the airport to Phuket Bus Terminal 1. There are 15 bus services a day leaving at 30 minutes past the hour from 07:30 until the final departure from Phuket International Airport at 21:30.

From Phuket Bus Terminal 1 you can take an inexpensive local shared taxi and minivan services to most of the popular beach resort destinations across the island. Services to Patong Beach depart every hour, on the hour, from 07:00 until 18:00 and cost 50 THB per person. There are also frequent bus services to Phang Nga from Phuket Bus Terminal 1, as well as direct services to Koh Lanta. For Koh Phi Phi its a short journey to from Phuket Town to Rassada Pier to catch a scheduled ferry service to Tonsai Pier on Koh Phi Phi Don.
