Bus Stations in Bangkok

Bangkok has three major bus stations: the Northern Bus Terminal (Morchit Bus Station), the Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai Bus Station) and the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai Bus Station).

Bus services to and from destinations in the South of Thailand tend to depart and arrive at the Southern Bus Terminal. Bus services to destinations in the North and North Eastern Regions of Thailand tend to depart from and arrive at the Northern Bus Terminal. Bus services to and from destinations to the east of Bangkok tend to arrive and depart from the Eastern Bus Terminal.

Bus services to and from certain destinations, however, (such as Pattaya) rather confusingly depart from and arrive at all three major stations so its always good to check where a bus service departs from and arrives at if you travelling to or from Bangkok just to make sure.

A number of bus services from Bangkok also depart from locations near to the Khao San Road. Many of these bus services are of a very poor standard with a fairly high incidence of theft from luggage left in the hold while the bus in on route. Some of the services departing from near the Khao San Road are, however, excellent and safe and never experience problems with theft.

In particular we recommend the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry services which travels between Bangkok and the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. We also highly recommend the Boonsiri High Speed Ferries Company which operates direct services from near to the Khao San Road in Bangkok to Koh Kood and Koh Mak.
