About Travel to Koh Muk
Located 22 km to the south east of Koh Lanta, Koh Muk is the second largest of a cluster on four islands located off the coast of Trang Province in Southern Thailand. The other three islands in the group are Koh Libong, Koh Ngai and Koh Kradan.
Facilities on Koh Muk
Koh Muk may be small, measuring 4 km in length and 3 km at its widest point, but it has the widest range of facilities for tourists of any of the islands in this group of four islands. For example, hotel booking websites, such as Agoda, list 57 hotels in Koh Muk, but only 12 in Koh Kradan, 17 in Koh Libong and 10 in Koh Ngai. Among the 57 hotels in Koh Muk are some good quality luxury resorts, such as Sivalai Beach Resort and Pawapi Beach Resort, and some more basic value for money options, such as the popular Mookies Bungalows.
Because of the better facilities, many visitors choose to base themselves in Koh Muk and tour the other three islands on day trips.

Where to Stay in Koh Muk
There are two main places on Koh Muk where the vast majority of visitors to the island stay: near Sivalai Beach on the east coast and near Garnet Beach on the west coast.
The area around Sivalai Beach is the most popular destination on Koh Muk. It’s close to the main town of Baan Koh Muk and the island’s main ferry pier. Garnet Beach, also known as Charlie Beach or Farang Beach, is located 3 km from the main ferry pier and it’s much less developed. Garnet Beach is located within a national park and only a few wooden buildings have been permitted close to the beach. There are, however, quite a few resorts and restaurants on the approach road to Garnet Beach.
Activities in Koh Muk
Most of the activities on Koh Muk are beach or sea based, including swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and scuba diving. Koh Muk does, however, have one natural wonder which is very popular, Morakot Cave.
Morakot Cave, which is the Emerald Cave, is a partially submerged sea cave which you can swim through in low tide to reach a small beach and lagoon surrounded by steep sided hills. The cave is similar to those found in Phang Nga Bay, just easier to get to.
Koh Muk also has a hilltop viewpoint in the centre of the island which you can walk to.
