Reasons to travel to Pai
Pai is wonderful small town located in the mountains. A two to three days visit to Pai is an opportunity to experience life outside of city of Chiang Mai without much expense or a very long tiring journey. Pai town is small enough to walk around with a range of great value for money resorts, bars and restaurants. The pace of life is slow here and whilst the town attracts a healthy flow of tourists it is not overwhelmed by foreign visitors to the same extent as more easily accessible destinations in the north of Thailand such as Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
The most popular activity in Pai is to rent an automatic motorbike for a day and follow a circuit around some quiet and well maintained roads. There are lots of things to see near Pai including hot springs, the Chinese Village, Lun Yai Viewpoint, the temple on the hill overlooking Pai valley and Mor Paeng Waterfall. For the adventurous travellers you can go water water rafting trips from Pai as well as multi-day organised treks to villages inhabited by hill tribes. From Pai you can also travel further from Chiang Mai onto the less visited town of Mae Hong Son.
