Rang Hill in Phuket


Rang Hill is a popular tourist attraction near to Phuket Town in the south of Phuket Island. You can either walk up or drive up Rang Hill at all hours of the day and there is no entrance fee. If you choose to walk up be aware that it will take you around 45 minutes and that the walk is up hill all the way. Small children and anyone with difficulties walking may struggle to reach the top. If you are reasonably healthy it should be no problem. The nicest route to walk up is via the Khaw Sim Bee Road and then follow the Wachira Road for the final part of the journey to the top of the hill. On route take a few minutes to visit Wat Khao Rang, which is difficult to miss as the temple has a giant gold statue of the Lord Buddha.

At the top of Rang Hill is a viewpoint with a pavilion and observation platform. There is parking space near the observation deck if you decide to drive up to the top. There are also several shops where you can buy food and cold drinks, and several restaurants in the area, some with views. Considering the location the shops and restaurants on Rang Hill are moderately priced and fairly good quality. For this reason Rang Hill is a popular place to come in the evening to dine.
